Inspired by her Grandma Bunny, Hermosa Beach native
Annie started running XC her freshman year of high
school in 1979, then continued to run for El Camino
College, UCLA and several local club teams for over 4
decades.
While XC is her first love, she’s run a wide variety of
events from the 800 meters to 50 miles.
Annie is best known locally for being the 19 time women’s
champion of the Hermosa Ironman, the iconic South Bay
tradition that involves running a sand mile, paddling a
mile, then chugging a 6-pack.
Today Annie shares her passion for running through
leading Hb Run Club, an after school running program for
Hermosa kids, and being an assistant coach at her alma
mater Mira Costa High School. In 2022 she was awarded
Hermosa Beach Person of the Year in part for her work
with Run Club.
