Ally Representing in the Bay Area

Allyson EstessAlly Estess while vacationing in the Bay Area over the weekend decided that while she was there, she’d open her cross country season running the USATF’s Pacific Association’s 23rd Annual Golden Gate Park Open held at Golden Gate Park yesterday on September 12th. She was able to run the same four mile course that the USATF Pacific Association Regional meet is run over and where the Janes will be running in November. Right before the race, it was doubtful that it would even go off when a unexpected thunder, lightning and rain storm blew through just long enough to muddy up the course. Ally finished in 12th place in a perennially strong field of Pacific Association athletes with a time of 25:14. Her time was very close to her end of year mark over the same course in good conditions so the Janes are eager to see what a great season she’ll have with such a great start. Aggies Club member, Linda Somers-Smith, at the age of 48, ran a remarkable time of 22:58 to win.

Official results have yet to be posted but Ally reported back with these marks:

1 22:58 Linda Somers-Smith (Aggies) 48y
2 23:42 Rachel Booth (Penn District) 28y
3 24:08 Annie Bersnagal (Pennisula) 26y
