Cambria Conquers the Bridge!

Cambo-ConquerCambria was our first Jane to get into the racing season this fall with her win at the Conquer the Bridge 5 mile Road Race held in San Pedro over the Vincent Thomas Bridge yesterday on Labor Day. This race was the first year back after a hiatus of almost 10 years with a good showing of over 1500 runners competing yesterday. Cambria was pretty much by herself throughout the race able to enjoy the stunning view from atop the bridge before running down the steep sides of the bridge on this out and back course where runners had to go up and over the bridge once, turn around a cone at the bottom and make their way back up and over the bridge again to the finish line close to where the race began. Her winning time was 34:55, well ahead of second place local and UCLA star, Olga Aulet-Leon, who ran 36:28, was good enough for a 21st place overall finish. Probably the most impressive part of this win for Cambria is the fact that she has a been training through a broken rib that she broke about four weeks ago. One tough lady!
