Emily Runs the Chicago Marathon

A fit and ready Emily Mitchell made her way out to Chicago this past weekend to run in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and ran 3:04.26 – the 128th fastest women. After coming through the 1/2 marathon in a time of 1:27.32 well on pace for a sub-3 hour marathon, the unusual 80 degree temperatures got the better of her and she slowed a bit.

Liliya Shobukhova from Russia was the overall winner for the second year in a row running a blazing time of 2:20.45 running against a field that was publicized as the most competitive field in the marathon’s history. Her time was a personal best as well as a Russian record. The first American woman was Magdalena Lewy-Boulet who ran 2:28.44 and was the 7th fastest woman.
