Ingrid placed second at the 10th Annual Orange County Marathon this past Sunday in a personal best of 3:00.03 over the long course. For winning, Ingrid placed and was awarded in both the overall women’s race as well as the placing first in the masters’ division. The race was not without drama. The Orange County Register reported that, in the men’s division, Mohamed Fadil of Albuquerque, New Mexico was disqualified Tuesday and his race-record time of 2:22:45 was thrown out. It was ruled that he received aid during the race in violation of USA Track & Field rules against assistance to athletes. That makes 27-year-old Stephan Shay of Huntington Beach the new winner of the men’s division and recipient of the $2,000 first prize.
