All five JANES who ran the Holiday Half Marathon over the weekend made it into the top ten spots. Erika came in second place with a time of 1:22, Rachel came in third with a personal best time of 1:24, Ingrid was sixth in 1:25, Liliana got eighth in 1:29 and Kelle came in ninth with a time of 1:32.
“Who knew Pomona was so hilly!” Erika said after finishing ninth overall (including men) and running her second fastest 1/2 marathon ever. Rachel, who ran over four minutes faster than her previous best 1/2 marathon, was happy after the race, “I haven’t been training for a half marathon, so I struggled a bit on the last part of the race. I had a Cal Coast runner help pace me and he helped keep my head in it so that was awesome.”
The Holiday Half was the final race for 2013 of the USATF Southern California road racing series. This showing by the JANES was a exclamation mark on their road racing series for sure!
