JANES Masters Third at Nationals

The JANES had a good showing at the USATF Cross Country Club Nationals in Bend, Oregon this past weekend placing third among top masters teams. Tania, who was fourth place overall, Kirsten, Christine and Darcy made their way up to the cold and icy regions of central Oregon to race on one of the most challenging of courses that these seasoned veterans have ever run in their prestigious careers.

The course, designed by an extreme mountain cyclist, had frozen ground, ice, snow, uneven terrain, turns and a steep downhill finish. Along with sub freezing temperatures and wind up to 15 miles per hour, it made for some fun cross country conditions. The girls from Southern California prevailed, though, pulling together for their third place showing behind Atlanta Track Club who was the first team dethroning second place Club Northwest who have won nationals for the past few years.

After the race, Tania, Christine and Kirsten enjoyed an afternoon of fantastic skiing on the slopes of beautiful Mt Bachelor.
