Tania runs Bay to Breakers

Tania went up to San Fransisco for her annual run in the infamous Bay to Breakers. The course starts out in downtown San Fransisco and winds its way through the streets of San Francisco and Golden Gate Park finally finishing 12 kilometers away at Ocean Beach. It’s a rolling course, as you can imagine, with money bonuses going to the first runner up Hayes Hill approximately 2 miles into the race. Tania started the race in the elite section of the race starting with the top women in the race which included the top masters runners in the area.

Tania ran most of the race solo with no competition and finished in a time of 46:44 – good enough for 9th place overall in the women’s elite division and 14th overall in all divisions. Tania thought she was the overall winner of the masters division but unfortunately, there was a woman in her division that was just a little bit faster who ran in the open race which starts minutes behind the elite division start. Kim Howard (Albany) finished a mere four seconds ahead of Tania running 46:40 good enough for 13th place overall. “I’m so bummed. I know that if I had started with Kim it would have been a good race and I would have stepped up to the challenge,” Tania stated after the race, “It’s what you have to be concerned about when you start at a different time.” Nonetheless, Tania, as always, had a great time at a fun race and looks forward to the challenge again next year.
