The Janes take Manhattan!

Emily Field, Emily Mitchell, Cambria Wu and Kirsten Leetch ran in the 33rd Annual Manhattan Beach 10k this past Saturday. Kirsten took first (36:16) and Emily Field (36:25) took second in a very competitive race that featured All Americans who just graduated from Arizona State University (Alison Kielty) who finished in third and the ever improving and fast Alison Atkinson who finished in fourth. Laura Mickelson, former Mira Costa High School, LMU and U of Washington recent grad, was fifth. The course is a challenging one with rolling hills, a steep downhill and a mile of running on the strand before the finish at the Manhattan Beach pier. Every year, since the firstĀ  year, the winner receives a framed picture of the shirt art, which is always of the Manhattan Beach pier.

“I didn’t think I’d ever see this award again. This race has always been special to me and it’s been a long time since I’ve won this race. I can’t express how happy I am,” said the Kirsten after winning.

Emily Mitchell, who was running this in preparation for her fast approaching marathon, ran solid and Cambria ran her first 10k since her long term injury this past spring.
