FAQS ▸

Q: What are the distances of each leg?

A: Here are the distances of the legs: 1 mile, 3 mile, 4 mile, 5 mile, 6.2 miles (10k!), 7 mile

Q: What are the divisions for the race?

A: We will have an all women’s team division, an all men’s team division and co-ed team division. The co-ed division consists of at least three women on the team.

Q: I am an individual who would like to race, but I don’t have a team? Can I still race?

A: Yes! Please enter as an individual here, and we will do our best to place you on a team.

Q: How do you determine who wins?
A: The team with the fastest combined marathon time wins the relay in each division.

Q: What is the time period I need to compete in?
A: The racing time period starts on Saturday, June 20th and ends on Sunday, June 21st.

Q: What time can I race on those two days?
A: It’s up to you! You can start as early as 6 AM in your time zone on Saturday, June 20th and you have until 12 PM in your time zone on Sunday, June 21st to have your leg COMPLETED.

Q: Is there a specific relay order our team needs to run?
A: Nope. You can run it in any order you wish and all can race at the same time or overlap one another too.You just need to have all legs completed on Sunday, June 21st by 12 PM in your time zone.

Q: It says that I have to run this alone but my husband/partner always runs or bikes with me. Can I continue to do this with him/her for my race leg?

A: We are trying to keep teams or groups from meeting up to run their races due to the restrictions many of us have in place now, but if you have a routine running with your partner, go ahead and do this on race day.

Q: Can I run my leg on a treadmill?

A: We will not be taking race leg stats that are run on a treadmill.

Q: I want to put together a co-ed team. Is there a limit of how many men I can have on the team?

A: Yes, we are asking that you only have a maximum of three men on any co-ed team.

Q: What are the three charities the winning team has to choose from if they win?

A: The charities that the winning team has to choose from are Black Lives Matter LA, George Floyd Memorial Fund, LA Emergency COVID-19 Fund, Black Youth Project, or you can suggest a charity of your choice. 99% of what we raise from this event will go to that charity of choice, with 1% going to The Janes to keep these events going!

Q: The course I want to run has some downhill in it. Is this allowed?

A: In the spirit of the competition, we are asking that the course is a fair course. A loop that starts and finishes and at the same place is ideal, but we get it if there is a course that you can do point to point. If the course has hills up or minimal down in it, that’s fine. If you want to go on a challenging course, that’s up to you too. We just don’t want everyone to find the easiest downhill course you can find. The other thing that might be helpful is to map out the course ahead of time and mark off the start and finish areas so you have an idea of when you need to stop your watch.

Q: A few of our team members cannot afford to pay the suggested race donation, do we have to pay the full entry fee?
A: No. We get it. Times are tough and we want this to be fun and have as many who can participate. Pay what your team can.

Q: When do I have to get my results in?

A: You need to send your image of your GPS watch with your distance and time to your team

captain. Your team captain will be collecting all the results and uploading them here. Please get your result to your team captain as soon as you can because the team results need to be in on Sunday, June 21st by 4 PM, PST race day.

Q: I can’t remember which leg I am competing in. What should I do?

A: Contact your team captain. She will have the information for you.

Q: Can I share race photos and videos directly with The Janes to post?

A: Yes! We would love to share your race experience with others on our social platforms. To text or email content to us, please ask your team captain for the phone number and email provided.

Q: I’m posting my result and photos/video of myself pre-race, during race and post race on my social platforms. Is there a hashtag I could use?

A: Yes! Use #togetherwedistance and you can also tag @janeseliteracing.

Q: I just finished my leg of the race. Where do I send my result?

A: Send your screenshot of your GPS watch, Strava, or Nike Run Club app to your team captain. She/he/they will send in the results for your team all at once.

Q: I’m a team captain. Where do I send my results?

A: Click here to send in your results on race day anytime before 4 PM, PDT on Sunday, June 21st. You will need all six leg times accompanied with an image of a GPS final time, or Strava/Nike Run Club App screenshot.

Q: Where and when can I view results of the race?
A: We are aiming to get all results posted on our Janes website by the early evening of Sunday, June 21st. We will also email out all the team captains then too. We will notify the winning teams as soon as we finalize the results.

Q: Does our team have to all be from the same club team?

A: No. You can mix and match. Invite a non-team member to race with your club team or get a team of unattached members to race together. Invite others from different clubs to race with you. Have your family and friends participate. The more the merrier!

Q: Will you have any age divisions?
A: Not this time. In future races we host, we plan on having age divisions.

Q: Do we have to live in a particular state to compete?
A: No. And you can have team members from other states…or even countries…get together to compete.
