Mt SAC Relays Results

Barb_MTSACBarbara ran in the PUMA mile this past Friday night against a field of very good men and women at the prestigious Mt SAC Relays. The women were given a 29 second lead on the men and the first person across the line received a $10,000 sponsorship with PUMA for a year. Barbara took the lead right away and had company through the first laps. When they came through the 800 in 2:15 with a possible sub-4:00 capable group of men on their tails, Barbara knew she had to make a move. And move she did. Barbara pushed on by herself while the men, as a strong group, tried to catch her and beat each other. Barbara gave a valiant effort as she ran by herself. She made it to the top of the straightaway heading for the tape before the men overcame her. She ended up finishing sixth overall with a time of 4:33.79. Scott Derek won the whole thing running 4:00.51. Barb_MTSAC1

In the masters women’s race, Tania (2:21) and Kirsten (2:29)  finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 800. Karen Steen of Club Northwest won in a time of 2:20.
